The Sound of Music · Marta von Trapp
From a child actress on the silver screen to a life in flowers

Back in the early 1960s I was already a pretty seasoned commercial actress by the age of 6, having acted in numerous commercials promoting dolls, toys, cars, food, and other products that companies wanted to sell. In late 1963, my agent told my mother that there was a “movie” interview, and they wanted to see boys and girls ranging in age from 4 to 25. I went on the interview and was lucky enough to land the role of Marta von Trapp in the movie The Sound of Music.
It’s hard to believe it’s been more than 60 years since the movie made its debut in 1965. Since then there have been numerous reunions, autograph shows, TV appearances, and radio and internet shows.
“My best friends in the world are the very people I starred with in the film.”
You can see my gallery of showbiz photographs in Sound of Music through the years. A few years back, my von Trapp brothers and sisters and I gathered our photos, memorabilia, and memories into a book called The Sound of Music Family Scrapbook. A 50th-anniversary edition was released in 2015, and I purchased the remaining copies the publisher had left — Unfortunately they have all sold and I will certainly let you know if I am able to get more.
These days I am reminiscing on all the amazing weddings and events I was fortunate enough to design over the course of 35 years. Though not completely retired, I pick and choose what I wish to do. Check my portfolio .
